Have Fun!
She's here...........My very own, just what I always wanted, JERSEY MILK COW!!!!!!!! She is about 5 years old and this is her 3rd pregnancy. She is due to calve in about 2 weeks more or less! I am having a ball with her!! She is a bit people shy, anyone from the cow boards reading this, do you have any suggestions?
We got her home fairly easy. Our Amish neighbors sons mounted their horses and our boys walked beside and we kinda "herded" her home. She went right in her new stall and after a few days seems quite content.
I have had a few dairy cow names kicking around in my brain for about 7 years! Names are very important to me, so getting her's just right was a challenge, but now she has one!! There were a few names in the running:
RUBY
ADA
LUCY
TRUDY
LILY
IVY
JOSEY
DAISEY

I vote for Trudey! I love your blog, but am not on Google so can't actually "follow" it.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Ada! I was thinking of Ada yesterday, her special relationship with Ruby, and of Georgia too. So I'm going with my gut premonition! So happy that you finally have a real milk cow! Yea-ness!
ReplyDeleteI will guess Lily, but I think she is something in addition to Jersey. The color is correct but the head shape is not.
ReplyDeleteAs to the shyness, my neighbor with Jerseys would experience a drop off in milk production if anyone so much as came in the barn when he was milking. They need a quiet, set routine.
I'm going with Josey. She looks like a Josey to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Trudy. She looks a bit serious like a Trudy. LOL!!
ReplyDeletecongratulations!!

Ok, I just signed up to follow you. I should have done this before since I check frequently for new posts.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Knowing how you are with names I am going with Lucy. Just a Cousin feeling.
ReplyDeleteOk it is Ada. I feel this is who she is. Don't question Auntie Linda. Remember I know best.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom is named Trudy...so, I probably shouldn't guess that. I'm guessing Daisey-such long eyelashes for such a pretty cow;)

I know it's too late to enter, but I just want to say that she is beautiful! Our jersey is called Bessy - ever since I was a little girl I wanted a dairy cow called Bessy & now I do ~ we just need to work out how to get her in calf as she's just at that right age now (we raised her from a calf). She is the opposite problem to yours - she loves people ~ too much~ & would love to live right in the house with us ~ of course since she isn't scared of people she is very disobedient ~grrr.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoy reading how your new adventures are going!
Have a wonderful day
Renata:)
Just found your blog and am looking forward to reading about your farm and family. Our current Jersey is Honey. She's so sweet! We lost our Buttercup this Spring. So sad. I miss her. She was also a shy cow. We used to brush her every day. She came to really like it but was never as friendly as our current cow. May God bless your family in your new enterprise of a cow!
